There have been been rumors circulating about a pending Facebook IPO this week and a number of $100 billion for its expected valuation. If the IPO happens and succeeds, the tech IPOs may finally be given life in a lackluster economy. The chances of gettinginearly on any Facebook IPO is all but impossible. What most investors will have to deal with are massive ask prices far above the initial offering which should be avoided. The rise such as that could potentially see a correction after the first week and then quickly followed by a continued rise.

Today the NY Times Sent an email to subscribers email addresses notifying them that a request to cancel their subscriptions was pending. It seems the email was spam. The spam was not from an external source, but from the NY Times itself. The spam email was quickly replayed and discussed on a variety of websites, Twitter and Facebook. Soon enough, the NY Times issued a corrected email notifying subscribers of the error and that the email should be disregarded.

It is being reported that Facebook has purchased Gowalla, the smaller less popular location based check-in service. The move by Facebook when it is formally announced would put Facebook in a stronger footing against Foursquare, the current leader in location based check-in services. It has been reported that Facebook will absorb all of Gowalla's staff into their Palo Alto, Calfornia offices.
